What is this domain – and what does it tell us about wellbeing?

Communities that are functioning well provide local opportunities for education, building knowledge, and building skills, both for school aged children and for people at all stages of life. People who are able to access good education as a child, and opportunities for ongoing learning and upskilling throughout their life are better positioned to achieve the things important to them in life – and this in turn is associated with higher wellbeing. Communities that are able to provide good education, skills and knowledge building opportunities are more likely to retain population (as fewer people need to leave to pursue educational opportunities), and better positioned to adapt to changing technologies, systems and processes.
